Pasikuda

The place

A shallow, sheltered bay on the east coast where you can wade out a remarkable distance through warm, waist-deep water. The reef breaks the swell far offshore, so the bay stays calm even when the ocean beyond is moving - ideal for families and slow beach days.

Pasikuda is deliberately unhurried: resort mornings, water sports when you want them, fresh seafood in the evenings. It pairs naturally with Polonnaruwa's ancient city an hour inland, and with the livelier surf town of Arugam Bay further down the coast.
